On February 21st 2015, the Edmonton Constituency Labour Party (CLP), using a rigorous process, selected Kate Osamor to be the Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Edmonton.

Ms Osamor will contest the seat on behalf of the Labour Party and Co-operative Party at the May 2015 General Election.

She will succeed Andy Love MP who has been the Labour Party candidate for Edmonton for 25 years, who narrowly lost in the 1992 General Election. Mr Love successfully won in 1997 and has served the Edmonton community for eighteen years.

If successful in May, Ms Osamor will be the first minority-ethnic female to represent Edmonton since its inception.

Huge honour

Ms Osamor, an Enfield GP Practice Manager, described her selection as a "huge honour" and looks forward to the election campaign and hopefully serving the people of Edmonton.
