Speaking to an audience at the Overseas Development Institute yesterday (Thursday 2 November), Kate Osamor MP, Shadow Secretary of State for International Development, set out a vision for Labour's International Development policy aimed at building a world for the many, not the few.
Kate Osamor said that a Labour Government will:
Set the Department for International Development a second purpose – to reduce global inequality, as well as the existing aim of eradicating poverty
Announce increased support for civil society
Host a global summit to accelerate the goal of reducing inequality in developing countries
Kate Osamor also announced Labour’s plan to set up an International Development Task Force to help develop the party’s programme for Government.
