Press Release: Kate Osamor MP calls on the Government to address the current underfunding of Enfield
Kate Osamor MP has advocated to get more local government funding for Enfield and a fairer system of distribution of local government grants and cuts. She took this action in response to the government’s decision to reduce by £12 million the budget for the Youth Justice Board, an organization that does important work in the community of Enfield. She has written a letter to George Osborne MP and will table parliamentary questions on the matter. She is working in conjunction with Enfield Council.
Speaking on the subject, Kate Osamor MP said:
“I am calling for the government to hold a consultation into a new, fairer funding system for London Boroughs.”
“Edmonton’s grants have been cut every year since 2011. We are now in a situation where some London boroughs have a grant almost twice as large as Edmonton’s, without having twice the level of crime to deal with. This cannot be right.”
