This morning the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have published their latest report into findings of urgent and emergency care services at North Middlesex University Hospital, which have been rated as Inadequate.
Immediate concerns were raised and a Warning Notice issued following the inspection.
Speaking on the subject, Kate says:
“The rating of Inadequate that urgent and emergency care services at North Middlesex University Hospital has received from the Care Quality Commission verifies longstanding concerns about the quality of care at the hospital, which have been ignored for too long by central government.
It is the first time in the history of the NHS that an A&E unit has been threatened with closure on safety grounds.
Urgent intervention is necessary to ensure that the urgent and emergency care services remain open and that the quality of care improves to meet the needs of patients.
I have been in regular contact with the management of North Middlesex University Hospital about this issue and have also raised my concerns directly with Health ministers.
All local Labour MPs have been and are working closely together on this issue, and I will be hosting a public meeting on Monday 26 July 7 – 8.30pm at Green Towers Community Centre, Plevna Road, London, N9 0BT to discuss responses to this crisis and how best to save our A&E.”
