I worked in the NHS for 15 years, and its establishment is one of Labour’s proudest achievements. The Labour Party does indeed support an increase in taxation to properly fund the NHS. But we do not want to see that increase make life harder for those only just getting by. Which is why Labour will be making the argument that it is the highest earners and biggest companies who need to be paying their fair share to fund public services that we all rely on. Labour is committed to providing universal healthcare, free at the point of use.
