Monday 20th November

• A constituent contacted me to say that they have been waiting for more than a year for a decision on a Visa application, leaving them in limbo. I have contacted the Home Office asking for an update.
• Another constituent contacted me about disrepair in their housing association property, with the roof having been leaking water for more than a month. I am also working to help resolve this.

Tuesday 21st November

• I attended the Skills for Care Drop in Parliament In to learn about the importance of social care in Edmonton, and the problems it and the workforce are facing.
• I was delighted to see Angel Edmonton receive £11.9m in Levelling Up funding which will go towards projects such as a redevelopment of the Boundary Hall Community Centre and expansion of the Leeds Street Market over the coming years.

Wednesday 22nd November

• I watched the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement. The conclusion of which is that the burden of taxation on working people is going to continue to rise, while the funding of public services is set to be cut in years to come. A clear indictment of Conservative rule.
• I and other MPs signed a joint letter addressed to the Foreign Secretary and Home Secretary asking the Government to take a stand against violent Israeli settlers, by banning their entry to the UK.
• In my inbox of casework I’ve been very concerned at the case of one constituent who has five children, including a newborn, who is being made homeless and has received little help from the local council, which I hope will be urgently addressed.

Thursday 23rd November

• I asked the Government in the House of Commons to provide justice for the terrible infected blood scandal that has sadly personally impacted one of my constituents who has been in touch, and what it is doing to stop anything similar ever happening again.
• I signed myself up as a Smokefree MP to show my support for proposals to outlaw the sale of tobacco forever for children turning 14 this year or younger.

Friday 24th November

• I visited Galliard Primary School. It was a real pleasure to answer questions from the students about my role as a Member of Parliament representing Edmonton.
• I held a surgery for constituents with a range of issues to raise at Edmonton Green Library. I’ve taken away their issues and look forward to assisting them in any way I can.
• I also held a meeting at St John and St James Primary School, concerning the problems of antisocial behaviour right outside the school. Specifically, sex workers operating in view of the school, which is clearly unacceptable and must be tackled.
• I signed EDM 91 for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, urging the Government follow Pancreatic Cancer UK’s proposed pathway to improve treatment and care for this terrible disease.
• This week I have received over 200 emails from constituents on a wide range of policy issues, such as the situation in Gaza or the danger posed by fireworks. As well as individual problems constituents would like assistance with, such as housing disrepair and Home Office delays.
