Some 275,000 people are currently besieged in eastern Aleppo, facing constant bombardment. Innocent civilians are trapped, impoverished and desperately in need of food, clean water and medical care. Ultimately, the only solution to the conflict in Syria is through a negotiated political settlement – but no negotiations will happen without a ceasefire. The suffering in Aleppo, and across Syria, has gone on for too long, and with every day that it continues we must redouble our efforts to end it.
