‘A World for the Many, Not the Few.’
‘A World for the Many, Not the Few.’

As Shadow Secretary of State for International Development, I officially announced my bold new policy paper ‘A World for the Many, Not the Few.’ The announcement takes action against the rigged global economy. Simply striving to reduce poverty is not enough, so I set forth a second goal for the UK’s aid spending: reducing inequality. Rather than tinkering with systemic issues or reacting to tragedies, Labour will be proactive by attacking the root causes of poverty, inequality and climate change. We have committed to a feminist international development approach to tackle the patriarchal system which oppresses women and
limits their rights. Labour has vowed, after the recent incidents, to transfer power away from the aid industry into the hands of people and communities. Labour aims to leave the world better than we found it. Substantial change comes from bold thinking and passionate action. Our commitment to social justice, not charity, will transform the world into one for the many, not the few. I am proud of my paper and believe this is the best step forward for the world.
