Monday 14 August 2023

  • The Home Office granted one of my constituents British Citizenship and another Indefinite Leave to Remain. Great successes after such long delays.
  • I wrote to the Chief Executive of Wilco calling on him to put workers first as administration takes place. Shareholders have taken millions out of the business over the last 10 years while ordinary workers who have kept the company running have lost out. Wilco must now do everything possible to ensure workers facing redundancy are given a fair package that reflects their hard work.

Tuesday 15 August 2023

  • Enfield Council confirmed that the lift at Woolmer House has been fixed while Haringey Council confirmed they are conducting repairs at a constituent’s property.
  • Many constituents wrote to me calling on the Government to stop taxing state pensions. With 1 in 5 pensioners living in poverty I agree that we should receive taxation on pensioners to ensure that it is not regressive. No pensioners should have to live in poverty.

Wednesday 16 August 2023

  • After weeks of delays and following my representations, my constituent finally received an appointment for an MRI. These failures to refer are unacceptable.
  • Dozens of constituents wrote to me this week calling on ‘E-Collars’ to be banned. I would support such a ban. E-Collars use electric shocks to ‘train’ dogs and cats. They are incredibly cruel and ineffective.

Thursday 17 August 2023

  • Enfield Council agreed to take action to tackle anti-social behaviour on Harton Road and to investigate a possibly unlicensed Home of Multiple Occupation.
  • I wrote to the Home Secretary asking for urgent clarification on plans to build camps to detain refugees. It’s unclear how many refugees the government plans to detain in these camps and for how long they expect people to be detain in them. The plan is immoral, instead of criminalising refugees we should be offering them a safe place to live and allowing them to work.

Friday 18 August 2023

  • The Home Office agreed to expedite my constituents British Citizenship application after checks are completed.
  • This week I received 296 emails, with 77 constituents contacting me for the first time.
