Monday 18th September 2023

  • On Monday in the House of Commons, I pressed the Home Secretary on the failed privatisation of asylum accommodation. The Government has shelled out millions to companies like Serco to provide accommodation, but this for-profit model has resulted in unsanitary conditions, a lack of safeguarding and even reports of sexual abuse.
  • After a lot of persuasion L&Q finally agreed to pay my constituent compensation for the delay in responding to medical evidence that he had submitted.

Tuesday 19th September 2023

  • On Tuesday Junior Doctors and Consultants began their first ever joint strike action as they call on the Government to reverse the 25% pay cut imposed on them since 2008. If the Government wants to tackle the NHS staffing crisis its vital they listen to NHS workers.
  • The Police have requested that Enfield Council install a Dome Hawk camera in Craig Park to deter anti-social behaviour and are also considering the use of dispersal orders.

Wednesday 20th September 2023

  • Enfield Council agreed to provide my constituent with Temporary Accommodation before she was evicted and will refund her court costs incurred as a result of the council’s failure to adhere to their legal duties under homelessness legislation.
  • A number of constituents wrote to me this week concerned by the lack of progress towards banning live exports from Great Britain for slaughter or fattening. The Kept Animals Bill, would have brought in this ban before the Government scrapped it. I fully support such a ban and will continue to take the Tories to task for their failure on animal welfare.

Thursday 21st September 2023

  • Many constituents wrote to me voicing their opposition to the Prime Ministers U-Turn on Net-Zero. The public overwhelmingly back strong action to tackle the climate crisis and see this latest stunt by the Government as the political gimmick that it is.
  • I got confirmation that the police have now apologised for not having investigated the theft of my constituent’s blue badge properly. Its important that the Police take all crimes seriously, its unacceptable that so many people who report crime and left with nothing but a reference number.

Friday 22nd September 2023

  • This week I was contacted by 60 constituents on many different issues including animal welfare, housing, immigration, and local planning applications.
  • Several constituents wrote to me to me this week concerned about the withdrawal of the Day Travelcard by TFL. This is another measure which the Government has forced TFL to take in exchange for a funding deal and I will raise these concerns directly with the Secretary of State for Transport.
