Kenya Trip

I have just returned from a very humbling trip to Nairobi. I visited a low fees health-care centre & a primary school in two of Nairobi’s poorest districts. Over 8 million people live in the informal settlements (known as slums) & most families struggle to live on less than $1 per day. Sadly the political direction is too focused on developing trade partnerships at the socio-economic cost of their own population. What i saw amplified how importance of NHS and free primary & secondary education. My findings bring home how much the Kenyan government needs to invest into education health & basic infrastructure e.g water sewage & electricity. Social indicators measure how progressive governments value their population. Effective governments collect taxes & invest back into public services Without that investment a country’s economy will not be long-term sustainable.
